Therapy is a process, it takes time to find answers to problems you have not been able to sort out yet. It takes time to resolve conflicts that have taken years to take place. However, you learn in this process to become your own advocate, your own caregiver, your own best friend. Then your therapy is successfully over.

This a path worth the work, because you rip the benefits indefinitely, and your relationships benefit from your increased sense of wellbeing as well.

Therapy is the art or cultivating relationships; first you need to care for the relationship to yourself, but it also implies cultivating your relationships with your loved ones, and it also encompasses all other degrees of relationship in your life, with all of those you deal with in your social environment. 

You will know 

when you see improvements and feel internal joy.

 

Many who embark for the first time wonder how long it takes to "finish" therapy, but when you learn to catch yourself avoiding, omitting, and so forth... you know you can still make progress. Until you do not. Then your therapist´s job is complete.
